1Setia’s Assurance of Unity
During the press briefing, Setia emphasized the unity within the Congress party in Sirsa. He addressed concerns about certain groups attempting to create division within the party, but firmly stated that their internal unity remains strong. “Some elements are trying to sow discord, but our bond is unshakeable,” he said. Setia accused the opposition of exploiting the farmers’ vote for political gains, adding, “The public is now more aware and can see through these tactics.”
Appeal to INLD Workers
Setia made a direct appeal to workers of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) to support Congress. He urged them to prioritize the welfare of farmers and consider backing the Congress party, especially after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate withdrew from the election race. He posed a critical question to INLD supporters, “Will you stand by a party that opposes the farmers’ interests?” Setia expressed his confidence that Congress would receive significant support from INLD workers, helping them secure victory in Sirsa.
Congress Remains United
Setia dismissed rumors of internal conflicts within the Congress camp and reassured the media that the party is united in its goal to win the election. He also shed light on why he declined an offer from the BJP to contest under their banner, stating that he couldn’t go against the interests of the farming community. When asked about Congress leader Barban Mehta’s apparent dissatisfaction, Setia called it a family matter and downplayed its significance.
Setia expressed optimism for the future of Sirsa, saying, “I trust Congress leadership to accelerate development projects in the region once we win.” He concluded by reaffirming his loyalty to the Congress and his determination to lead Sirsa towards progress.
