Kisan Morcha calls Centre’s decision to hike Fair and Remunerative Price of sugarcane ‘historic’
New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party Kisan Morcha has said the recent decision taken by the Union Cabinet to increase the Fair and Remunerative Price ( FRP ) of sugarcane to Rs 290 per quintal is historical.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the Party’s Kisan Morcha president and MP Rajkumar Chahar said the FRP rate enhancement announced by the Narendra Modi government is the highest so far in the country.
“It will benefit around 5 crore sugarcane farmers in the country besides benefitting around 5 lakh workers working directly and indirectly in the sector,” he said.
Hailing the cabinet decision, BJP MP Vijaypal Singh Tomar and former president Party Kisan Morcha said, under the leadership of Mr Modi. there have been decisions to help and support our sugarcane farmers.
He said the BJP government has given a soft loan package to the tune of Rs 4000 crore so that the sugar mills can directly make ethanol from sugarcane juice .
“Sugar mills have already started working on this project and results will be visible soon and it would greatly benefit our farmers,” he said.
He said under the Pradhanmantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna, so far 9 installments have been issued.
“So far, over Rs 1.5 lakh crores have been directly dispersed into their bank accounts of the farmers,”. he added.
