Keshav Maurya: Akhilesh must ask his father as to who abolished pension
Mulayam Singh Yadav decides to campaign after Feb. 8
Lucknow, Jan 20: On the Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav’s announcement to restore the old pension system, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Maurya said on Thursday that the decision to abolish the pension system was taken under the SP regime of Mulayam Singh Yadav and why did Akhilesh not restore it during his stint as the Chief Minister.
Talking to UNI Maurya said on Thursday that first Akhilesh should ask his father Mulayam Singh Yadav why the pension system was abolished and then Akhilesh should tell why he did not restore it during his government.
It may be noted that the SP chief Akhilesh on Thursday announced the restoration of the old monthly pension system for the state government employees post retirement.
Maurya said, “Akhilesh should go to his father Mulayam Singh first, because the process to abolish the pension system started during the SP regime. He should ask his father the reason behind it. After that, Akhilesh must tell why the old pension system was not restored when he was running the government for five years.”
He said that sops like these are hollow poll promises, which show that Akhilesh is left with no political issue and he is completely out of the poll race. “Akhilesh is making such poll promises to remain in the media headlines,” he said.
On being asked that populists promises like free electricity and pension system were attracting the people and how much they will impact the polls, Maurya said, “These issues would have been the topic of discussion among the public when uninterrupted power supply would have been ensured during Akhilesh’s stint as the CM and we would have not been able to supply electricity even for 20 hours.”
He said that the people know the reality that they were not getting electricity during Akhilesh’s government and they are getting uninterrupted supply now. “People can never believe the promises of those who failed to ensure power supply and abolished the pension,” he said.
