Kerala HC: Make RTPCR certificates mandatory for buying liquor from shops

Kochi, Aug 10 (UNI) Justice Devan Ramachandran of Kerala High Court on Tuesday
said vaccination certificates or RTPCR certificates must be made mandatory for people
visiting beverage shops as the crowd is uncontrollable and buyers are “treated like
cattle”.
The judge suggested that the government order should be applicable to bars and Beverages Corporation outlets where people gather in long queues for several hours to buy alcohol, as these orders have to be followed for visiting any other shop in Kerala.
The government order should be applicable to such outlets as “it would give an impetus to vaccination”. If getting vaccinated is a requirement for buying alcohol, “more and more people would opt for it” he court observed.
The court had directed the government and BEVCO to setup liquor shops in a civilized and cultured manner rather than running them in a a shabby manner, saying that liquor should be treated like any other commodity rather than being treated like contraband.
