Kerala congress chief warns Shashi Tharoor on K-Rail issue
Kannur, Dec 26 (UNI) Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President K Sudhakaran warned party Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor for taking a different stand from the official party line on the Silver Line Project (K-Rail).
Addressing a press conference at the District Congress Committee (DCC) office here on Sunday, Sudhakaran said: “Once the party has taken a stand on the K-Rail issue, it is the duty of all Congress MP’s to accept it.
If Shashi Tharoor is not loyal to the party, he will be ousted. Shashi Tharoor is only one of the 50 MPs of the Congress party.”
Sudhakaran, MP, said the party has already sought a written explanation from Tharoor for supporting the K Rail project. After going through the reply of Shashi Tharoor, further action will be taken accordingly.
Party leaders have different opinions, but if a party takes a stance, it must be accepted by all MPs, Mr Sudhakaran said.
However, Mr Sudhakaran opined that “he did not think that Shashi Tharoor had a hidden agenda to support the K-Rail Project and added that not signing a letter along with other party MP’s did not mean that he supported the K Rail project.”
Mr Sudhakaran alleged that “Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s excessive interest in the K-Rail project is only aimed at the financial gain from it.
If this project is for the people, then Mr Vijayan should be ready to hold a referendum among the people considering the widespread protest on the issue.
