Brinda’s silence on police brutality against K-Rail protesters unfair: VD Satheesan
Thiruvananthapuram, April 22: Opposition leader in Kerala Assembly VD Satheesan has criticized CPI (M) leader Brinda Karat, who protested against demolition at Jahangirpuri in New Delhi, for her silence on police brutality and massive protest against laying survey stones for K-Rail SilverLine project in Kerala. The Opposition leader tweeted that “#Kazhakuttam or #Jahangirpuri, atrocities against peoples’ protests are one and the same. Look at the most dispicable police arrogance on those protesting against the #silverlineproject. Are you seeing this #BrindaKarat ? #againstsilverline #Bulldozers #Jahangirpuri https://t.co/tgdw0werbN.” “Brinda Karat, who voiced against the ‘Bulldozer Politics’ is silence on police atrocities against those protested against K-Rail,” he alleged here on Thursday. He also urged Kerala Government to take stringent disciplinary action against a police man who kicked a protester’s stomach with his boot’s multiple times during the clash between the K-Rail protestors and the police on Thursday at Kazhakuttam. Meanwhile, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President K Sudhakaran alleged that the police have unleashed brutal violence against the Congress workers who led the agitation against the K-Rail. Demanding action against the police man who kicked a person, he said evidence of that police brutality and its visuals went viral on social media, showing extreme form of police misconduct. The police officials are committing crimes against the protesters to appease the leaders of the ruling CPI(M) Government, and that will not be tolerated by the Congress party hereafter, he added. “The UDF will go ahead with an uncompromising struggle against the K-Rail.
