J&K polls: Jammu Admin to organize special camps at polling stations
Jammu: Discussing the procedure and preparedness of district administration for the conduct of Special Summary Revision 2022, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Avny Lavasa, who is also District Election Officer Jammu, on Monday said that special camps will be organized at all the polling stations in September and October.
“Special Camps will be organized at all the polling stations on September 24-25 and October 1-2, 15-16 while the BLOs will be available at their respective polling stations along with requisite forms on the said dates,” Lavasa said while chairing a meeting with the representatives of political parties.
The DC urged the political representatives to extend their cooperation in updating the electoral roll.
The Representatives of the political parties were also asked to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAS) at all the polling stations to assist the Booth Level Officers in conducting registration of new voters, removal of duplicities, addition and removal of non-existing voters.
The Participating representatives were informed that the Draft Publication of the Photo Electoral Rolls of all the Assembly constituencies shall be done on September 15, 2022, while the qualifying date for inclusion of new voters is October 1 and the claims and objections shall be received from September 15 to October 25.
Responding to issues raised by the participating representatives, the chair issued directions to the concerned officers to take measures for redressal of the complaints related to election matters and Special Summary Revision 2022 and updating of Electoral Rolls.
It was informed that the general public can lodge their grievances / complaints on the telephone numbers 2571616, 2571912 in district Jammu.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner chaired a meeting of the District Level Task Force mandated to ensure safety of the bridges and removal of accumulated materials.
The Task Force has been constituted for taking urgent measures for safety of bridges and removal of accumulated material due to heavy rains, on an urgent basis.
The task force was directed to examine any threat to bridges due to the flash floods on account of accumulation of huge loads of river borne material and to ensure scientific removal of such material in a time bound manner. (UNI)
