Israel’s new PM Yair Lapid holds Security meet

Moscow: Israel’s caretaker Prime Minister Yair Lapid, who assumed the post earlier this week under a rotation deal with his coalition partner Naftali Bennett, met with Israel Security Agency (ISA) chief Ronen Bar on Friday to discuss various aspects of intelligence.
“Prime Minister Yair Lapid held a working meeting, including an extensive security-intelligence briefing, on what is being done in the various arenas, with Israeli Security Agency Director Ronen Bar at the Kirya in Tel Aviv, this morning,” the prime minister’s office said.
On Thursday, Israel’s parliament voted to dissolve itself after the ruling Bloc of Change coalition lost paper-thin majority upon flight of two members. Bennet had been prime minister since June 2021 and was supposed to switch with Lapid in 2023 had the parliament not triggered a snap election, Israel’s fifth in under four years.
