Israeli army forces Gazans out of Khan Yunis after rocket fire
Palestinian Territories: After rockets were fired from a humanitarian zone, the Israeli military ordered Gazans to leave the eastern part of Khan Yunis city on Monday, saying it will “forcefully operate” there.
“Due to significant terrorist activity and rocket fire toward the state of Israel from the eastern part of the humanitarian area, remaining in this area has become dangerous,” the army said in a statement.
“The IDF (Israeli army) is about to forcefully operate against the terrorist organisations and therefore calls on the remaining population left in the eastern neighbourhoods of Khan Yunis to temporarily evacuate to the adjusted humanitarian area of Al-Mawasi.”
The Israeli army has intensified military operations in Gaza’s Hamas-free zones in recent months.
It planned an operation in Khan Yunis governorate, named after the main city in the Palestinian territory’s south, on Monday.
