ISI-Backed Terror Plot Foiled in Punjab: Babbar Khalsa Link Suspected in BJP Leader’s House Attack
CCTV footage reveals grenade attack; suspects Zeeshan and Happy believed to be key conspirators..
Jalandhar (Punjab) In a concerning development in Punjab, intelligence agencies have unearthed a terror plot allegedly orchestrated under the directives of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. The incident came to light after a grenade was hurled at the residence of a BJP leader in Punjab. The attack, which was caught on CCTV cameras installed at the residence, has sent shockwaves through the political and security landscape of the state.
According to officials, the footage clearly shows an individual, later identified as Kalia, throwing a grenade while seated in an e-rickshaw. The explosive device detonated moments later, causing damage but no casualties. Initial investigations suggest the involvement of the banned terrorist outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), which has long-standing links with pro-Khalistani elements and is known to operate under the influence of Pakistan’s ISI.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Punjab Police’s anti-terror squad are jointly probing the case. Sources indicate that two suspects, Zeeshan and Happy, were instrumental in plotting the attack. Their connections with foreign handlers and extremist operatives are currently under intense scrutiny.
Authorities believe that the motive behind the attack was to create fear and instability in the region, especially ahead of the upcoming elections. This act of terror appears to be part of a broader plan to revive militancy in Punjab, which has remained relatively calm in recent years but continues to be vulnerable to cross-border influence and radicalization.
Security has been tightened across the state following the attack, with additional forces deployed in key districts. Intelligence agencies have issued alerts to all state units, advising vigilance against any suspicious activities and possible sleeper cells that may be active. Furthermore, surveillance on known radicals and returnees from abroad with questionable affiliations has been stepped up.
Political leaders across the spectrum have condemned the attack and called for strict action against those responsible. The central government is reportedly monitoring the situation closely and may consider expanding the NIA’s jurisdiction to include additional suspects and locations linked to the terror plot.
The incident has sparked fresh debate about internal security challenges in border states and the persistent threat of foreign-sponsored terrorism. Investigators are racing against time to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy and prevent any further incidents of this nature.
