Iran Turns to India Amid US Tariffs, Despite Past Criticism by Ayatollah Khamenei

Tehran : In a surprising geopolitical shift, Iran has turned towards India for support amid rising economic pressure from the United States, despite previous sharp criticisms by Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. This change in stance comes as former US President Donald Trump reintroduced strict tariff policies, heavily impacting Iran’s economy.

Ayatollah Khamenei, in the past, had openly criticized India, especially on sensitive issues like Kashmir, accusing the Indian government of oppressing Muslims. In one of his controversial remarks, he had stated that if Muslims remain indifferent to the suffering of fellow Muslims in regions such as Myanmar, Gaza, or India, they cannot truly call themselves believers.
