Haryana : A shocking incident took place in Sonipat, Haryana, where an online argument between two students on Instagram turned into a violent altercation on the streets. The conflict escalated when a group of youths supporting one student targeted the other student’s mother, dragging her on the bonnet of a moving car. The incident occurred in front of DAV School in Sector 15, creating panic among locals. According to reports, the victim’s son had engaged in a heated exchange on an Instagram group, which later led to the confrontation. The rival group sought revenge by taking the dispute beyond social media and into real life.

Eyewitnesses claim that the woman was trying to mediate the situation when she was forcefully pulled onto the car’s bonnet. The driver, rather than stopping, accelerated the vehicle, dragging her for a considerable distance before she fell to the ground. The disturbing act left the victim with multiple injuries. Passersby and local shopkeepers rushed to her aid, and she was immediately taken to the hospital for medical attention. The shocking nature of the attack has sparked outrage, raising concerns about rising social media disputes leading to real-world violence.

The Sector 27 police station has taken up the case and initiated an investigation. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from nearby locations to identify all individuals involved in the attack. While no arrests have been made so far, police officials have assured strict action against those responsible. The victim’s family has urged law enforcement to ensure justice, as such incidents pose a serious threat to public safety.

This incident comes amid ongoing developments in Haryana, including the Panchkula Municipal Corporation’s budget presentation for the financial year 2025-26. The municipal budget meeting, held at the PWD Rest House in Sector 1, saw discussions led by Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal and attended by Panchkula MLA Chandra Mohan Bishnoi, alongside Congress and BJP councilors. The proposed ₹300 crore budget focuses on city development, with ₹40 crore allocated for employee salaries and operational expenses. The session emphasized infrastructural growth and improving civic amenities in Panchkula.

As Haryana deals with economic planning and urban development, the Sonipat attack serves as a stark reminder of how social media conflicts can escalate into violent, life-threatening incidents, highlighting the need for stricter cyber monitoring and law enforcement intervention.
