Mock drills conducted in 400 hospitals of UP
New Delhi: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday said the country is fully prepared to deal with any eventuality, if the Covid cases increase once again in the country. The Minister who visited Safdarjung Hospital to review the Covid mock drill and other preparedness of health facilities in view of spurt in COVID-19 cases in some countries said, “today’s mock drills are conducted across Covid hospitals in the country to take stock of the preparedness and make sure that people get proper treatment.
The mock drills are intended to check the level of preparedness of the hospitals, in terms of equipment, procedure and human resources.
He said, “Such exercises would help our operational readiness and help in filling gaps if any. It will also consequently strengthen the country’s public health response”.
Speaking about the hospital’s preparedness, Safdarjung Hospitals Medical Superintendent Dr. B.L. Sherwal said the Minister visited the facility today and he was satisfied with its 44 beds of amenities. “Under one roof, patients will have access to all the necessary services from test to treatment” he said.
Dr Sherwal also urged the people to follow all appropriate Covid behaviour and said that now the situation in India is under control.
If anything happens, we are fully prepared to tackle the situation”, he added.
In Lucknow, mock drill was carried out in 400 dedicated hospitals in 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh on the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday to test and prevent the new variant of corona across the state and to ensure availability of ventilators, medicines and oxygen.
A government spokesman said that the pressure of the oxygen plant in the Intensive Care Units (ICU) ward was also monitored during the exercise. Along with this, government-appointed nodal officers and civilian medical officers of the WHO were also present at the mock drill.
Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak visited the capital’s district hospital Balrampur to examine the mock drill. During the mock drill, all the arrangements from availability of oxygen to ventilators and ICU were found to be perfect.
In the presence of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sandeep Chaudhary, Additional Health Director Dr. Anshu Singh and Chief Medical Superintendent a mock drill was held at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Government Hospital.
BRD Medical College, 100 Bed TB Hospital, Government Homeopathy Medical College, Barhalganj, CHC Chauri Chaura and CHC Campierganj participated in the mock drills for Covid treatment in Gorakhpur. The prescribed standards were also inspected during this time.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Ashutosh Dubey said that all arrangements for Covid management in the district are secure. “All 200 ventilators are operational. There are 1000 oxygen concentrators and over 1000 large cylinders available. He stated that the district team is fully prepared to deal with any situation that may arise,” he said.
Mock drills were carried out in Agra’s SN Medical College, District Hospital, Community Health Centers (CHCs) Barauli Ahir, Khandauli, Sayya and Bah’s Covid Ward. Due to the rising cases of Corona, mock drills were held in all the hospitals from admitting a dummy Covid patient to providing treatment.
