India beat England by 4 wickets in 3rd Women’s ODI
Worcester, Jul 3 (UNI) India defeated England by 4 wickets in the third and final rain-curtailed women’s ODI of the three-match series, here on Saturday.
With this win, India has now made it 4-6 in the multi-format series. Mithali Raj-led team sealed a heroic draw in the one-off Test last month and won the ODI series finale.
On the other hand, England won the opening game by eight wickets and the second one by five wickets to clinch the win the three-match series 2-1.
India bowled out England for 219 after winning toss and opting to field in the final match, which was reduced to 47 a side due to delayed start because of rain.
Off-spinner Deepti Sharma (3/47) was the pick of the bowlers for India, while Jhulan Goswami (1/31), Sneh Rana (1/31), Harmanpreet Kaur (1/24), Shikha Pandey (1/42) and Poonam Yadav (1/43) picked one wicket each.
Nat Sciver (49), skipper Heather Knight (46) and Lauren Winfileld-Hill (36) were the top-scoers for England Women. Sophia Dunkley (28) and Kate Cross (16 not out) chipped in with useful cameos.
In reply, skipper Mithali Raj anchored India’s chase with an unbeaten 75 off 86 balls as the visitors overhauled the target in 46.3 overs.
Apart from Mithali, Smriti Mandhana scored 49 while Sneh Rana played an important 22-ball 24-run cameo towards the end.
