Chamba (Himachal), April 18: Himachal Pradesh Patent Information Center Shimla on Monday completed the process under Geographical Indication Indication (GI-TAG) of Traditional Valuable Potential Product on the initiative of District Administration Chamba for inclusion of Chamba Metal Craft in the list of “GI” Tag (Geographical Indication). Deputy Commissioner DC Rana said that after completing all departmental formalities to include the metal craft of Chamba in the list of “GI” tag, the Registrar, Chennai, was registered in the name of “Chamba Metal Craft” under the GI Act, 1999. The matter was referred to by the Himachal Pradesh Council of Science, Technology and Environment (HIMCOSTE) in collaboration with the Chamba Metal Craft Society. Chamba Thal has got a special recognition internationally among the district’s metal crafts products. This unique metal craft work of the district has been presented as a memento to the VIPs. Apart from this, the famous sculpture in Chamba’s traditional metal crafts artifacts. Two artisans of Himachal Pradesh, Prakash Chand and Hakam Singh, were conferred with National Award in metal crafts. DC Rana informed that the district’s famous art product Chamba Rumal, and Chamba Chappal has got “GI” tag under GI Act 1999 by Himachal Pradesh Patent Information Center. (UNI)
