Himachal DGP orders setting up of an SIT for nabbing the absconding SHO Neeraj Rana
Hamirpur (HP), Dec 23: The Director-General of Police, Himachal Pradesh, Sanjay Kundu has issued orders for the constitution of an SIT for nabbing absconding Inspector Neeraj Rana of Nadaun Police station of Hamirpur.
In a circular issued to all the Police officers in the state today, the DGP has issued instructions that other SPs, especially SP Una (as Inspector Neeraj Rana belongs to District Una) to assist SP, Hamirpur in nabbing the absconding Police official. It’s worth mentioning here that Inspector Neeraj Rana had absconded with a sum of twenty-five thousand as a graft when he was raided by the sleuths of the Vigilance department two days ago.
The DGP has also issued instructions that the details of the case of Neeraj Rana be sent to SP/EOW for taking up further with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for an exemplary action.
The DGP has also directed all the SPs that they should apply due diligence while posting officials at key posts like that of an SHO. SPs should post SHOs on the basis of merit and professionalism and not act on mere political recommendations without checking their credentials. SPs should carry out a 360-degree review on the working, neutrality, integrity of an official before posting
him/her at such a key position. To this end, they may contact the previous SPs of the official concerned, the DGP has further stated.
Similarly, the PHQ should create a pool of officials based on their merit, professionalism, integrity, and past records which can help SPs in taking an informed decision while posting officials at key posts.
He has also issued directions that the vacancies of Sub-Inspectors and Inspectors in the districts should be filled on priority so that SPs have sufficient strength to choose from on the basis of merit for such key and sensitive posts.
