Hefazat –E- Islam top leaders arrested in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Apr 17 (UNI) Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh has come up for discussion in the politics of Bangladesh again after the siege of Shapla Chattar in Motijheel in 2013.
Last month, on the occasion of the golden jubilee of independence and the birth centenary of Bangabandhu, on the occasion of the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Hefazat started a nationwide burning movement. Which was led by the party’s joint secretary general Mamunul Haque.
Later, a case was filed at the Paltan Police Station on April 5, naming 18 people, including Hefazat’s joint secretary general Mamunul Haque, and 22,000 others as accused in connection with the March 28 violence at the Baitul Mukarram premises.
Since then, the law enforcement agencies have been arresting the leaders and activists of the violent Hefazat. Rafiqul Islam Madani, a child narrator, was arrested from his home in Netrokona on the morning of April 6. Later, RAB filed a case against Rafiqul Islam Madani under the Digital Security Act and handed it over to the police.
The Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has filed a report in the court accusing 43 people, including its leader Allama Junaid Babungari, joint secretary general Mamunul Haque and organizing secretary Azizul Haque Islamabadi, of inciting the assassination of former Hefazat-e-Islam chief Ahmed Shafi.
Maulana Abdullah Mohammad Hasan, the party’s Naib Amir and president of the Bangladesh Faraji Movement, announced his resignation from Hefazat at a press conference at the National Press Club in the capital on April 13 at noon, questioning the role of Hefazat-e-Islam in protesting the violence in different parts of the country.
On the evening of April 14, Mufti Shakhawat Hossain Razi, Assistant Secretary General of Hifazat-e-Islam, was arrested in front of his home in Lalbagh. Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police Joint Commissioner Mahbub Alam confirmed the matter to the media.
On the evening of April 13, Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) arrested Mufti Sharifullah, Assistant Publicity Secretary of the Central Committee of Hefazat-e-Islam, from Mir Hazirbagh area of ​​Jatrabari. Mufti Sharifullah is also the organizing secretary of Hefazat’s metropolitan committee.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Detective Police (Wari) Azaharul Islam Mukul confirmed the matter, saying Sharifullah had been shown arrested in a case filed under the Special Powers Act at Jatrabari Police Station on May 8, 2013. In that case (No. 20) he is the accused.
