Haryana moving at accelerated pace to set up Compressed Natural Gas plant

Chandigarh, Aug 5 (UNI) Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala said the state government is moving at an accelerated pace in the direction towards setting up ‘Compressed Natural Gas’ plants to keep the environment clean in the state.

He informed the way this plan is being worked out, the day is not far when Haryana will be the first state in the country to have ‘Petronet LNG Limited’ pollution-free gas-plants.  Petronet LNG Limited’ (PLL) is a joint venture between the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, ONGC, IOCL, GAIL and BPCL, Union Government.

Mr Chautala stated this during a video conference organized to consult the states to expedite the implementation of the ‘Gobar-Dhan’ scheme launched by the Central Government. Union Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of State Prahlad Singh Patel also joined the conference.

The Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the portfolio of Development and Panchayat Department, informed that Haryana Government has already taken initiative to set up a unit of Community Biogas Plant in Naya-Gaon village of Hisar district. Fulfillment is being done in the homes of about 40 per cent of the population.

He demanded that the central government should increase the amount of Rs 50 lakh per unit to Rs one crore for setting up community biogas plants. He informed that 22 community biogas plants are being set up in all the districts of the state as per the Gobar-Dhan scheme of the Central Government, but requested to increase the number of these plants on the basis of population.

Mr Chautala informed that Haryana Government is encouraging setting up of cow dung gas plants in big gaushalas and milk dairies, 40 per cent subsidy is being given by the Government on these plants. He suggested that the Central Government should also start some concessional scheme for setting up of Gobar Gas Plants in Gaushalas so that the campaign of total cleanliness could be carried forward.

He further informed that the Haryana Government is working expeditiously on setting up ‘Compressed Natural Gas’ plant of ‘Petronet LNG Limited’ in the State. The said company has expressed its desire to set up its plants in 14 rural areas in the State and for that land has also been identified. These plants will give a new dimension to cleanliness in the villages of Haryana.

He informed that 50 ‘Individual Biogas Plants’ have been set up in the State by the Rural Development Department and 368 plants have been identified for being set up, apart from this, 102 ‘Individual Biogas Plants’ have also been set up by the Agriculture Department. Similarly, 4 ‘Institutional Biogas Plants’ have gone up in Bhiwani District.
