Haryana Government Announces New Scheme for Retired Employees

Offering Old Age Pension

Retired Employees with Pension Below ₹3,000 to Receive Additional Support under the New Scheme

In a move aimed at supporting retired employees, the Haryana government has introduced a new scheme that will provide old age pensions to those with pensions below ₹3,000. The scheme is a part of the state’s ongoing efforts to enhance the welfare of its retired workforce. Retired employees in Haryana, particularly those from various departments and corporations such as HMT and MITC, will be eligible for this additional pension. This initiative aims to bridge the gap for retirees whose pensions, such as those from the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), fall short of a sustainable amount.Haryana Government Announces New Scheme for Retired Employees, Offering Old Age Pension

To benefit from this new scheme, retired employees are required to register their details through the Citizen ID system. The registration can be done via family ID operators at the official website https://meraparivar.haryana.gov.in. Once registered, individuals will be assessed for eligibility, and the old age pension will be directly credited to their accounts.

The state’s Social Justice and Empowerment Department issued a notification regarding the scheme, which specifically targets retired employees whose pension amount is less than ₹3,000. For instance, if a retired employee receives only ₹1,000 through the EPF pension, the government will provide an additional ₹2,000 under the Senior Citizens’ Welfare Fund. The initiative was first discussed in the Haryana Assembly, and following the announcement, then Chief Minister Manohar Lal assured that these employees would be included in the pension scheme.

Moreover, whenever the old age pension amount is revised or increased, the pensions of EPF recipients will be adjusted accordingly. The program aims to improve the quality of life for Haryana’s retired employees by ensuring that they have access to adequate financial support in their later years.

The initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to supporting its retired workforce, ensuring they live with dignity and security. Dr. Satish Khola, the State Coordinator of the Haryana Family Identification Authority, confirmed that the registration process will be closely monitored to ensure a smooth implementation of the new pension scheme.
