GT vs RR Same Mistake Again..
After Riyan Parag, Sanju Samson’s error costs Rajasthan Royals; BCCI penalizes entire team..
IPL 2025 : In the recent IPL 2025 clash between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), controversy struck again as RR repeated a mistake that had already drawn criticism earlier in the season. After Riyan Parag was fined for a slow-over rate in a previous match, now it was the skipper Sanju Samson who found himself in hot water — and this time, the entire Rajasthan Royals team paid the price.
During the high-pressure encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium, RR once again failed to complete their overs within the stipulated time. As per the IPL Code of Conduct, this constitutes a serious breach, especially when repeated. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) responded quickly and strictly — penalizing not just the captain but also issuing fines to the entire playing XI.
Sanju Samson, who had already been warned earlier in the season, was fined ₹24 lakh for this second offense, while all other team members were slapped with a 25% match fee deduction or ₹6 lakh, whichever is lesser. The BCCI has made it clear that repeated violations will attract even harsher consequences, including potential match suspensions.
Fans and analysts have raised concerns about the team’s discipline and time management strategies. While Rajasthan Royals have shown glimpses of brilliance in this season’s IPL, these repeated infractions may cost them crucial points or even affect their net run rate — a decisive factor in qualifying for the playoffs.
The incident has once again sparked debates over on-field decision-making and the role of the leadership group. While Sanju Samson remains a fan-favorite and a powerful batsman, critics are questioning his tactical control and game awareness, especially in managing the bowling lineup efficiently under time pressure.
On social media, the reactions were mixed. Some fans stood by the team, citing pressure and heat as contributing factors, while others were disappointed by the repeated mistakes despite prior warnings.
The Rajasthan Royals management is expected to issue a statement soon, and reports suggest internal reviews are already underway to address the issue before the next match.
