Bareilly  : In a shocking incident in the Bhimora area of Bareilly, a grandfather, Puttan Singh Yadav, shot and killed his 19-year-old grandson, Akhilesh, out of suspicion that he had been involved in selling his daughter-in-law. The tragic event occurred on Friday evening when Akhilesh was talking with friends outside his home. The grandfather fired a bullet into Akhilesh’s neck, resulting in his immediate death.

Akhilesh’s father, Amarpal, attempted to intervene but was shot at as well. However, he managed to wrestle the gun away from the attacker. Puttan then fled the scene but was found sitting near a pile of hay by the police. They recovered a firearm and cartridges from the location.

Background:

The murder stemmed from a family dispute that began three years ago when Puttan brought a woman from another district for his son Manish’s marriage, spending a significant amount of money. After two women left Manish in quick succession, Puttan grew suspicious of Akhilesh’s involvement in sending them away, leading to his deadly act.

Police have arrested the grandfather and are continuing their investigation. The authorities are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine further action.
