Fog Returns to Haryana: Visibility Drops to 10 Meters, Rain Expected in Several Districts

Haryana :is once again experiencing dense fog, disrupting daily life for the second consecutive day. On Saturday morning, Mahendragarh and surrounding areas were blanketed in thick fog, with visibility dropping to just 10 meters. According to weather reports, the maximum temperature was recorded at 23.4°C, while the minimum temperature was 8.4°C.

Meteorological expert Prof. Dr. Chandramohan stated that a weak western disturbance has reached northern mountainous regions, forming a low-pressure area over central Punjab. This will likely lead to rainfall in Punjab-adjacent districts of Haryana, including Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Jind, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Yamunanagar, and Panchkula. Light to moderate rainfall, isolated thunderstorms, and even scattered hailstorms are expected in some areas. Additionally, increased humidity due to easterly winds will contribute to more fog formation in the coming days.

Narnaul, which had experienced clear skies for a week, was once again covered in dense fog. The month of February has started with foggy conditions, significantly impacting vehicular movement. The minimum temperature in Narnaul was recorded at 8°C. The weak western disturbance is expected to cause light showers over the weekend, though its effect on Mahendragarh district is expected to be minimal.

Meanwhile, Hisar saw fluctuating weather patterns, with fog appearing early Friday evening, clearing temporarily due to winds at 11 PM, and then reappearing Saturday morning.

In January, Haryana received 35% less rainfall than normal. The state typically records 14.6 mm of rainfall in January, but this year, only 9.5 mm was recorded. Sirsa experienced the highest rainfall at 87% of normal levels, while Kaithal and Karnal saw 88% less rainfall, marking the lowest in the state.
