First batch of 135 Indians evacuated from Kabul to Doha leave for India

Doha/New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) The first batch of 135 Indian nationals who were evacuated from Kabul to Doha were repatriated to India on Saturday night, the Indian embassy in Doha said here on Saturday.
The embassy said that they provided consular and logistic assistance to the Indians to ensure their safe return to India, and thanked the Qatar authorities and others for helping in the evacuation.
“1st batch of 135 Indians who were evacuated from Kabul to Doha over the past days are being repatriated to India tonight. Embassy officials provided consular and logistics assistance to ensure their safe return. We thank Qatar authorities and all concerned for making this possible,” the Indian Embassy in Qatar tweeted.
This comes a day after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, in Doha and had a useful exchange of views on Afghanistan.
“Met Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani @MBA_AlThani DPM & FM Qatar during my stopover in Doha. Had useful exchange of views on Afghanistan,” Jaishankar had tweeted on Friday.
Doha has become a major transit point for flights leaving Kabul, with most of the US Air Force flights landing in Doha in transit.
