An FIR has been filed against the ITLF spokesman for ‘promoting hatred’ in Manipur. The spokesperson for the ITLF referred to the registering of the lawsuit as “trivial” and noted that the entire matter is about sloganeering. He or she also stated that the case is about sloganeering.

IMPHAL: The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) spokesperson Ginza Vualzong has been accused by the Manipur Police of fomenting animosity among various tribes and causing public commotion. The ITLF has refuted the accusation.

The Manipur Police filed the case in the Imphal sub-division under provisions of the Indian Penal Code dealing with fostering enmity on grounds of religion, race, etc., defamation, spreading rumours, and causing ill-will between two communities, registering a “zero FIR” based on a complaint by a trader.

Later, the FIR would be sent to the Tamenglong district’s Khangshong police station for an investigation.

Since Vualzong claimed that the majority group was smuggling weapons and ammunition into the valley through trains, shopkeepers worried that their products would be plundered at the Khangshong railway station submitted the complaint.

The final station in the state with a train connection is Khangshong.

Vualzong refuted the accusations, claiming they were unfounded, and claimed that the state government was “suppressing the voice of the tribals” by filing the FIR.

The social networking site already blocked access to our official Twitter account at the Manipur Police’s request, and now this Zero FIR, the man claimed.

The ITLF spokeswoman referred to the complaint’s registration as “trivial” and stated that the case is entirely focused on sloganeering.

At protests of the majority community, he added, “I wonder why the state authorities turn a deaf ear when slogans like wiping out the entire tribal community are raised.”
