Fatal Accident in Fatehabad: Cruiser Falls into Canal, One Dead, 10 Still Missing

Fatehabad, Chandigarh – A tragic accident occurred near the village of Sardarewala in Fatehabad when a cruiser vehicle carrying 13 passengers fell into the Bhakhra Canal late Friday night. The accident, caused by heavy fog, led to the death of one young man and left ten others missing.
According to reports, the vehicle, which was returning from a wedding in Punjab’s Jalalabad village, lost control due to the dense fog and plunged into the canal. One passenger, identified as Jarnail Singh, managed to jump out of the vehicle before it fell into the water and alerted locals. A rescue operation was launched immediately, involving police and villagers from the surrounding areas.
By late night, the cruiser was pulled out of the canal, and a 12-year-old boy trapped inside was rescued safely. He was immediately sent for medical treatment due to shock. Sadly, one young man, Balveer Singh, was found dead.
Search efforts are still ongoing for approximately 10 people who remain missing, including women. The victims include residents from Mahmdada, Mansa, and surrounding villages. The list of missing persons includes Jaswinder Singh (35), Chhidra Singh (55), and several others.
The police are continuing their search in the canal, and authorities have confirmed that the rescue operation will persist until all missing passengers are found.
