Farmers to Hold Third Round of Unity Talks on Feb 12

Meeting Ahead of Scheduled Discussions with Centre Over MSP, Debt Waiver….

Patiala : Farmers protesting at Punjab’s border points with Haryana will hold their third round of unity talks with the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on February 12 in Chandigarh. The meeting is two days ahead of scheduled discussions between the protesting Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and SKM (Non-Political) with the Centre to address their demands, including debt waiver and a law guaranteeing a minimum support price (MSP).

At a separate meeting in Delhi, SKM unanimously rejected the National Policy Framework for Agricultural Marketing, terming it a “reincarnation of the three black farm laws.” The framework, they claim, is being pushed via state governments despite the repeal of the controversial farm laws in 2021.

Meanwhile, farm leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, on an indefinite fast for 60 days, has shown health improvement after accepting medical aid starting January 19.

Deputy Commissioner Priya Yadav and SSP Nanak Singh recently visited Dallewal at the protest site, emphasizing his health ahead of the February 14 talks. Farmer groups continue to push for maximum unity to strengthen their protest.
