Farmer Leader Chaduni Warns Government Over New Mandi Law
Farmers threaten protest if demands are not met, Chaduni issues strong warning….
Haryana : Farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni has issued a strong warning to the government regarding the newly proposed mandi law. Addressing a gathering of farmers, Chaduni stated that if the government does not reconsider its decision and take farmers’ concerns into account, a massive protest will be launched. He emphasized that the new mandi law is not in the best interest of farmers and could negatively impact their livelihood.
According to Chaduni, the new policy could weaken the traditional mandi system, leading to increased privatization and reducing the bargaining power of farmers. He argued that such laws would primarily benefit big corporations while putting small and marginal farmers at a disadvantage. He urged the government to engage in direct discussions with farmer representatives to address their grievances before implementing any changes.
Farmers across Haryana and Punjab have started mobilizing in response to the announcement. Several farmer unions have expressed their support for Chaduni’s stance, calling for solidarity among agricultural workers to resist any law that threatens their rights. Chaduni also hinted at the possibility of organizing large-scale demonstrations if the government fails to take immediate corrective action.
The government, on the other hand, has defended the mandi law, stating that it aims to modernize the agricultural sector and provide more options for farmers to sell their produce at competitive prices. Officials have assured that necessary safeguards will be put in place to protect farmers’ interests. However, farmer unions remain skeptical and are demanding written guarantees before accepting any modifications to the existing system.
