Meerut : In a tragic incident in Meerut, an eight-year-old girl named Afiya was shot in the chest and killed during indiscriminate firing at her house, following a village dispute. The incident occurred in Kalanda village in the Sardhana area on Sunday evening.
Background of the Conflict
Afiya’s brother, Sahil, had an altercation with some local youths just before the attack. The dispute involved individuals named Mashroof, Kaif, Soharab, and Kamran. The quarrel was resolved temporarily by the villagers, and Sahil returned home. However, soon after, the accused parties arrived at the family’s residence armed with firearms and sharp weapons. They opened fire at the house, intending to harm Sahil, but tragically, one of the bullets struck Afiya in the chest.
Despite immediate efforts to rush her to the Sardhana CHC, doctors declared Afiya dead upon arrival.
Investigation and Police Action
The police have seized a vehicle belonging to the accused, a Thar, and are conducting a thorough investigation. Several people have been taken into custody for questioning. Tehsin, Afiya’s father, has filed a report naming Mashroof, Kaif, Soharab, Kamran, and five unknown individuals. SP Crime Avnish Kumar confirmed that the police are actively searching for the accused.
