ED raids at CM’s relatives: AAP in glee, in Punjab
CM Channi says conspiracy being hatched to implicate him
Chandigarh, Jan 19 (UNI) Reacting to the seizure of crores of rupees from the premises of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s relatives in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids, the Aam Aadmi Party said that if Channi earned so much in 111 days, imagine how much he would have earned, if he had been the Chief Minister for five years.
AAP co-in-charge of Punjab Affairs Raghav Chadha alleged that the money found from the houses of CM’s relatives is the money collected from mafia and by looting the people of Punjab.
He reiterated that Chief Minister Channi was running a sand mafia in his area. The AAP leader claimed that the Chief Minister and his relatives have earned crores of rupees from their association with sand mafia and so far, information about illegal assets worth Rs 56 crore has been received. A lot of gold and property papers have also been recovered, he added.
Chadha asked, “Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, who pretends to be a common man, should answer, where did his relatives get so much money from?”
He said that when such a big amount has been found in the house of Channi’s nephew, then if this raid had taken place at the residence of the Chief Minister.
He mentioned that ED also raided the house of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, where they recovered 10 mufflers. Here, Rs 10 crore have been seized from the house of Channi’s relatives. This is the difference between the AAP and Congress.
From where did so much property, expensive vehicles and money come to Channi’s relatives? How many more relatives of his, have he made millionaires ? If his nephew earned so much money in 111 days, then how much the Chief Minister has earned, asked the AAP leader.
He further asked Congress President Sonia Gandhi, MP Rahul Gandhi and PPCC President Navjot Sidhu to make their stand clear on the matter.
The AAP leader said that the ED raid was not over yet, so the amount of recovered money would increase further. He said that before becoming the Chief Minister, Channi’s nephew and relatives did not have much money.
What happened after becoming the Chief Minister that they have crores of cash lying around? This clearly means that Channi’s family and relatives abused the power and used the power to earn money, alleged the AAP leader.
He said, “A few days ago, I had exposed the illegal mining site in Chamkaur Sahib, the Assembly constituency of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. Sand mafia in that area was running under the patronage of Channi himself. I had said that the commission of sand mafia is going to Chief Minister Channi and his relatives.
“At that time, Channi called me an outsider and threatened me. But the truth has come to light itself. Today, after the raid of ED, the truth of sand mafia has also come in front of the people of Punjab.
“Now the people of Punjab have come to know that Chief Minister Channi is the kingpin of sand mafia. In the upcoming elections, the people of Punjab will give the fitting reply to Chief Minister Channi and Congress,” he added.
