Don Abu Salem gets 3-yr jail term in fake passport case

Lucknow: A special CBI court on Tuesday sentenced underworld don Abu Salem and his aide Parvez Alam to three years imprisonment in a fake passport case, prosecution sources said here.
Prosecution sources said that the Special Judicial Magistrate of CBI court Samriddhi Mishra held guilty on the basis of evidence presented by the agency. In the year 1993, Abu Salem alias Abdul Qayyum Ansari, along with his aide Parvez Alam and wife Sameera Jumani, applied for a passport in the name of Akeel Ahmad Azmi, they said.
Prosecution sources said that Salem applied and obtained the passport on the basis of forged papers and used it as well. “After investigation the CBI filed the charge sheet in the court taking cognizance of which the court framed charges on Salem.
Salem, who is currently lodged in Mumbai jail, appeared before the court through video conferencing. (UNI)
