A clash between two groups in Kaithal’s Balraj Nagar area on Thursday evening has left five women injured. The dispute occurred while preparations for the celebration of Sant Ravidas Jayanti were underway. The injured women, including two seriously hurt, were admitted to the district civil hospital in Kaithal. The police have arrested two individuals involved in the incident.

The incident took place as members of the local Dalit community were preparing for a religious gathering and a palanquin procession in honor of Sant Ravidas. However, some youths from the same community opposed the procession, leading to a violent clash between the two groups. The situation escalated quickly as stone pelting ensued, injuring five women.

Jagdish Chandra, president of the Ambedkar Sabha, stated that certain mischief-makers deliberately instigated the conflict to prevent the Dalit community from holding their religious event. He further added that the Sabha’s representatives met with the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Superintendent of Police (SP) to file a formal complaint.

The police have arrested two individuals, Monu and Praveen, under charges related to the clash. However, there are no reports indicating that the dispute was directly related to the celebration of Ravidas Jayanti. Two of the injured women, Kavita and Lajwanti, are currently hospitalized in critical condition, and their statements are yet to be recorded. The police are continuing their investigation, and further action will be taken based on the testimonies.

The incident has sparked concerns among the Dalit community, who are now calling for strict action against the accused. The police have urged both groups to maintain peace, and the situation is now reported to be under control.
