Diggy’s beef-eating comments draw heavy flak
The Congress leader wrote in social media late tonight that his words regarding Veer Savarkar are based on facts
Bhopal, Dec 25: In the wake of Rajya Sabha Member Digivjaya Singh’s statement regarding beef consumption, his younger sibling and Congress legislator Lakshman Singh on Saturday described the cow as equivalent to the ‘mother’.
“It is a sin to even contemplate consuming cow’s meat. Mulling over and discussing unemployment and inflation would be proper,” he wrote in social media.
The Bharatiya Janata Party rained fire on Mr D Singh.
“If he hates Hindus and Hindutva so deeply then why does he not convert? Mr Singh, the very cow that you advocate slaughtering has been equated with the mother by your brother,” the BJP’s state Media In-charge Lokendra Parashar wrote.
Digvijay Singh said, “Savarkar stated that the Hindu faith has no connection with Hindutva. The Congress is waging an all-out war against the ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is dividing a country characterized by unity in diversity. We even have Hindus who consume cow’s meat and ask, ‘Where is it written that it should not be eaten?’ On the other hand, a majority of Hindus are against cow slaughter. There is no need to harbour trepidation vis-à-vis the RSS whose members only whisper in people’s ears. He who is fearful is as good as dead. If Prime Minister Narendra Modi emerges victorious in the 2024 general election, the Constitution will be heavily amended and reservation shall be ended. He works according to the Russian and American model, wherein the lion’s share of a country’s assets are owned by a handful of citizens. In India, this is happening in favour of about 15 individuals,” Mr. Singh alleged.
