Dense Fog Causes Series of Collisions on Amritsar-Jamnagar Expressway
Two trucks caught fire, causing a six-hour traffic jam in Sriganganagar……….
Abohar : A thick fog on Wednesday morning triggered a series of vehicle collisions on the Amritsar-Jamnagar expressway near Thethar village in the Sriganganagar region. The pile-up involved several vehicles, including two trucks—one carrying thread and the other loaded with wooden planks—that caught fire. Both truck drivers sustained injuries and were taken to the government hospital in Peelibanga.
The accident occurred due to limited visibility caused by the dense fog, leading to a chain reaction of collisions. The impact was severe, and the trucks were completely engulfed in flames. Firefighters from Suratgarh, Peelibanga, and Hanumangarh worked for over four hours to control the fire, while the police worked to clear the wreckage.
Fortunately, there were no major casualties. The collision, however, caused a massive traffic jam, blocking the expressway for nearly six hours. Seven trucks, along with other vehicles, were involved in the crash. Local villagers assisted in rescuing the injured and transporting them to the hospital. Traffic was cleared by noon, allowing the highway to reopen after an extended delay.
