Delhi : The man seen consuming eggs and liquor inside a Delhi Metro coach in a viral video has been arrested from the Burari area. The video had sparked widespread outrage on social media, prompting Delhi Police and DMRC to take immediate action.

According to officials, the accused has been identified as a resident of Burari. In his statement to the authorities, he admitted that he had shot the video himself for entertainment purposes, hoping to go viral on social media. However, things took a serious turn as netizens slammed the act, raising concerns about the misuse of public transport and disregard for public decency.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had earlier released a statement condemning the act and assured that strict action would be taken against those violating the rules. DMRC reiterated that eating, drinking alcohol, or any such disruptive behavior is strictly prohibited inside metro premises.

Police officials stated that the man was traced using technical surveillance after the video was widely shared online. He was brought in for questioning where he confessed to the incident. A case has now been registered under sections related to public nuisance and violating the metro rules.

The man also claimed that he did not intend to create a law-and-order issue and expressed regret over his actions. However, the authorities are not taking the matter lightly, considering the influence such videos can have on public behavior, especially among youngsters.

DMRC, in collaboration with CISF, has increased patrolling and surveillance inside metro stations and trains to ensure such incidents do not recur. Special attention is being given to monitoring viral content and identifying individuals indulging in such misconduct.

This incident adds to a growing trend of inappropriate behavior being filmed inside metro trains for social media fame. Experts and citizens alike are urging platforms to take stronger steps in regulating such content and authorities to ensure stricter enforcement of rules.

The Delhi Metro is known for its discipline and efficiency, and acts like these not only tarnish its image but also threaten the safety and comfort of regular commuters.
