Amritsar : The third day of the Saras Mela witnessed a surge in visitors eager to explore the rich collection of handicrafts and handloom products from across the country. However, amidst the enthusiasm, many artisans expressed their frustration over the lack of information regarding the facilities provided at the fair. Several craftsmen who traveled from distant states claimed they were unaware of the accommodations, food provisions, and financial support available to them.

Saras Mela, known for promoting rural artisans and their traditional crafts, aims to provide a platform where skilled workers can showcase and sell their products. The event organizers had reportedly arranged various facilities, including lodging and transport allowances, but many artisans complained they had not received any clear communication about these benefits. Some exhibitors struggled with high food expenses, while others faced difficulties in setting up their stalls due to a lack of guidance.

An artisan from Rajasthan, displaying intricate handmade jewelry, shared his concerns, stating that he had to arrange his stay at a nearby lodge, unaware that free accommodations were being provided. Similarly, a weaver from West Bengal mentioned that he learned about financial assistance only after speaking to fellow participants, by which time he had already exhausted much of his budget. The absence of proper coordination between the organizers and the artisans seemed to be a recurring issue affecting their overall experience.

Amritsar : Visitors at the Saras Mela, however, continued to appreciate the diverse range of products, including handwoven sarees, traditional pottery, wooden carvings, and tribal artwork. Many expressed their admiration for the craftsmanship and creativity on display, making purchases to support the artisans. Despite the challenges faced by exhibitors, the fair remained a lively hub of cultural exchange and trade.

Organizers have assured that steps will be taken to address these concerns in the coming days, ensuring that all artisans are fully aware of the facilities available to them. They emphasized that communication gaps will be bridged through better signage, announcements, and direct interaction with the participants. As the Saras Mela continues, artisans hope for improved support, allowing them to focus on what they do best—sharing their heritage and craftsmanship with the world.
