Dr. Zigova appreciates Women Empowerment Initiatives like setting up Self-help Groups in villages
SAS Nagar: Czech Republic Ambassador to India, Dr. Eliska Zigova, today called on Deputy Commissioner, Aashika Jain at DAC Mohali. She interacted with the Deputy Commissioner and appreciated the former’s initiative to make rural women self-reliant by setting up self-help groups at the village level.
Impressing upon witnessing the exhibition of various products prepared by the various women’s help groups, starting from artificial jewellery to eatables and fabric-based products, she said that the initiative is well received and may be beneficial for other women too who need to set up their home-based small businesses by forming a group.

She said that the idea behind the strengthening of women folk by roping them in such activities is wonderful and such initiatives can be helpful to make the women economically independent. Appreciating the move of fostering socio-economic growth and self-reliance in women, she said that these groups will soon be invited to the Czech Embassy in Delhi to showcase and boost their skills at the International level.
Divisional Forest Officer Kanwardeep Singh and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Sonam Chaudhary was also present during the visit. (with inputs from DPR office)
