Congress in for more surprises and setbacks in year ’22

Dehradun, Dec 22: Signalling trouble for the Congress in poll-bound Uttarakhand, former chief minister and Congress leader Harish Rawat said on Wednesday he was not getting the party’s support ahead of upcoming assembly elections.

In a series of tweets, the Congress leader, who has emerged as a popular candidate for the state polls as per surveys and is known to be a trouble shooter for Congress, said he was tired of swimming in the sea of elections and was not getting support from the organisation.
“Isn’t it strange, in the ocean of polls, the party structures, at most places, are not extending a helping hand, but turning their backs or playing a negative role,” Rawat said in a Tweet in Hindi.
“The authorities have released several crocodiles in the sea. Those who are ordering me to swim, their representatives are tying my hands and feet. The thought comes up many times, you have swam enough Harish Rawat, it is time to take rest,” he said.

He quoted from Bhagavad Gita, ‘Na Dainyam Na Palayanam’ which roughly translates to neither ask to be spared nor escape.
“A corner of my mind says ‘Na Dainyam Na Palayanam’, I am in a dilemma, I am sure Lord Kedarnath will guide me,” he said.
Rawat was the Punjab in-charge of Congress when former chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh was asked to resign. Singh later quit Congress and floated his own party, Punjab Lok Congress.
Rawat requested to be discharged from his duties in Punjab to focus on the Uttarakhand polls, after which Harish Chaudhary was made the state in-charge.
