Congress, Akali Dal MPs indulge in verbal spat over farm laws
New Delhi, Aug 4 (UNI) MPs from Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Congress from Punjab engaged in a verbal spat over farm laws outside Parliament on Wednesday morning.
SAD leaders were standing outside the Parliament building with placards opposing farm laws, when Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu accused SAD of supporting the government when the bills were passed.
SAD MP and former union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal refuted the charge saying the party had walked out when the Bill was being passed.
Bittu ,however, continued to say that Badal and SAD were a part of the government when the Bills were passed in Parliament. Badal continued raising slogans demanding scrapping the farm laws.
The verbal spat went on for several minutes.
Badal resigned as the Food Processing Minister from the Narendra Modi Cabinet in protest to the Farm Laws in September last year.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), one of the oldest allies of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA had also walked out of the alliance in protest against the new farm laws.
