CM Yogi: Sikhs are a great inspiration for the ‘New India’.
From Guru Nanak Dev to Guru Gobind Singh, Sikhism is a wonderful amalgamation of power with devotion: Yogi
Lucknow, Dec 27 (UNI) Paying rich tributes to the four ‘Sahibzadas’ of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj on Sahibzada Day at his official residence, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that the Sikhs, who devoted everything for the country, its dignity and culture, are a great inspiration for the ‘New India’.
Remembering the martyrdom of 4 sons of Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs, and Mata Gujri, the CM said that those who came with the intention of converting India to Islam, today their existence has been erased. It was the divine tradition of the Sikh Gurus that never allowed the anti-Sanatan Dharma intentions of the foreign invaders to succeed.
“From Guru Nanak Dev to Guru Gobind Singh, ‘Sikhism’ is a wonderful amalgamation of power with devotion. This divine tradition had come to save India. ‘Sahibzada Day’ will always inspire us to fight against tyranny and unrighteousness,” said Yogi Adityanath.
The Chief Minister on Monday observed the Sahibzada Day at his official residence, where he also participated in the Gurbani Kirtan. In visuals from the Chief Minister’s residence, he was seen carrying the Holy Sahib on his head and further offering his prayers. Wearing a saffron turban, the CM also followed all the rituals to commemorate the day. Accompanied by other ministers and officials, Yogi also performed a ‘parikrama’ carrying the Granth Sahib.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister stated the example of many historical events from Babur to Aurangzeb’s reign and said that when Babur attacked India, the terrorists tried to convert the whole country to Islam and enslave India, however his intention was not allowed to be fulfilled by the Sikh Gurus.
“Who does not know that Aurangzeb wanted the Sahibzade of Guru Gobind Singh ji to renounce their faith and abandon the teachings of the great Guru traditions by luring them, but they chose getting buried alive to protect the country,” said the Chief Minister.
He further said that the Sikh community is known for its dedication towards the nation in the entire world. It is well known who were the ones who drove the Kashmiri Hindus and Kashmiri Pandits from Kashmir. Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Maharaj was the one who protected the Kashmiri Pandits in the country.
“Maharaja Ranjit Singh brought 2 tons of gold and transformed the Kashi Vishwanath Temple into the Golden Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Aurangzeb destroyed the temple but Maharaja Ranjit Singh made the temple golden. The ‘New India’ must decide whether Aurangzeb deserves being respected or the great Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ji,” said the CM.
Quoting Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s words ‘Safal Jagat mein Khalsa Panth Gaaje, Jage Dharm Hindu Safal Bhand Bhaaje’, the Chief Minister saluted the martyrdom of the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Referring to the grand event organized at the Chief Minister’s residence on the occasion of 550th Prakash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, he said that such events should not be just limited to Gurudwara, but also should be celebrated in every Hindu household. In the presence of several dignitaries of the Sikh society, the Chief Minister also talked about efforts for the restoration of historically important gurudwaras in the state and the establishment of a museum focused on the tradition of the Gurus.
Notably, Uttar Pradesh is also the first state to observe Sahibzada Diwas since 2020 when Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that the sacrifice of the Sikh gurus should be part of the school curriculum and further celebrate the day as ‘Sahibzada Diwas’.
