Chandigarh’s Bird Park Ensures Birds Stay Warm with Special Arrangements
Blowers, Poly Sheets, and Nutritious Diets Help Birds Survive the Cold in Chandigarh….
Chandigarh: Amidst the biting cold, special arrangements have been made at Chandigarh’s Bird Park to ensure the safety and comfort of the birds. The UT Forest Department has taken significant steps to protect the birds from the cold by using blowers, poly sheets, and adjusting their diet to include dry fruits. A new shelter has also been created for exotic birds like macaws to provide them with a warm and comfortable space.
To combat the harsh winds and dropping temperatures, the Forest Department has installed blowers in the park that provide warmth to the birds. These blowers are used on days when the sun doesn’t shine, running for several hours to keep the birds warm. The large poly sheets placed over the bird enclosures help shield them from cold winds, ensuring they remain comfortable. The sheets not only block the chilly air but also assist in protecting the birds from extreme cold.
Special attention has been given to the macaw species. A new shelter has been built to ensure that they stay protected from the cold. The shelter has been carefully designed to minimize the impact of the low temperatures, offering a more stable and warm environment for these exotic birds.
In addition to physical arrangements, the birds’ diet has been adjusted to help them maintain energy during the cold weather. Their meals now include dry fruits like almonds and walnuts, which help keep their bodies warm. The birds are also given eggs and sunflower seeds as part of their morning diet to further support their health and energy.
The staff at the Bird Park have been instructed to closely monitor the birds’ health and activities, keeping a record of their condition. The Director of the Transport Department, TC Nautiyal, stated that in response to the increasing cold, special measures have been implemented to ensure the birds are protected from the harsh weather. The aim is to create a comfortable environment where the birds can survive the cold without suffering from its effects.
