Chandigarh Golf Club Set to Host IGU Amateur Meet After 15 Years

Chandigarh: After a gap of 15 years, the Chandigarh Golf Club (CGC) is gearing up to host the prestigious All India Amateur Golf Championship. The tournament will begin on Monday and run through December 15, bringing together some of India’s top amateur golfers. Local talent will also have a chance to showcase their skills, with 15 local golfers among the 110 participants in the competition.

Jai Gupta
These local players will be vying for top honours alongside some of the country’s finest amateur golfers.

Tournament Format:
123rd Edition: The event is the IGU’s final event of the year.
Final 32 Players: 32 players will make it to the final cut.
Match-play format: The pre-quarter-finals and quarter-finals will be played in match-play format, followed by 18-hole semi-finals.
36-hole Final: The final will be played over 36 holes, and in case of a tie, a playoff will decide the winner.
Course Condition and Excitement:
Ahead of the tournament, CGC captain Rohit Singh Dagar expressed excitement about hosting the event after such a long hiatus. He emphasized the significance of the tournament for promoting junior golf and pointed out the great condition of the course, which is often considered one of the best during the winter months.

Dagar also noted the growing success of Indian amateur golfers on the international stage, including their notable participation in the Asian Games. The tournament will undoubtedly serve as an important platform for emerging talent to make a mark.

As the tournament concludes on December 15, the champion will be crowned the Number 1 amateur golfer in India. This prestigious meet promises to be an exciting contest between seasoned players and fresh talent aiming to claim the coveted title.
