BSF bravehearts awarded Gallantary Police Medals by Punjab Guv. Kataria

Mohali (Punjab):   In an impressive  investiture ceremony at NIPER  Mohali, Punjab Governor and Adminstrator UT Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria,  paid glorius appreciation  and  rich  kudos to over 2 lakh  gallant BSF personnel  who  stand in vigil at nation’s  over 7,500 km  long borders  on Pakistan and  Bangladesh fronts, risking their lives and decimate  enemies’  sinister  designs  bravely.  37 of their bravehearts, (in service and retired personnel)   were honoured by  Guv Kataria this evening.

Western Command,  Border Security Force  (BSF) hosted the  Investiture Ceremony at National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (NIPER), Mohali to felicitate serving and retired BSF personnel with Police Medals for Meritorious Service.

Among the  honoured were  of 37 officers, including subordinate officers and other Ranks including retired BSF personnel, were honored with Police Medals for their Meritorious services. Satish S Khandare, IPS, ADG BSF Western Command welcomed the Governor and  other esteemed dignitaries present in the function. Guv reminded the audience about glorious past of BSF (established  in April 1965) and paid tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
Police Medals for Meritorious Service are  awarded to those Central Armed Police Force and State Police personnel who have devoted more than 18 years of outstanding and unblemished service to the nation. This is the third time when this ceremony was organized in Mohali (near  City beautiful ‘Chandigarh’).

While addressing the audience, Governor Kataria,  lauded the contributions of BSF officers and men in effectively securing Indo-Pak and Indo-Bangladesh borders  during peace as well as during wartimes. He also acknowledged the contribution of the Force in maintaining law and order situation in aid to the civil administration, for Counter-insurgency role and helping state governments’ machinery during Parliamentary and Assembly elections.

The chief guest Guv Kataria  averred that  Indian Border Forces are respected world over for their  bravery in 1965  India-Pakistan War, Bagladesh War of 1971 and Kargil War of 1999,  where  they prevailed over the ulterier designs of the enemies with examplory  bravery.  He assured the audience that Indian forces now have  best equipment and gadgets at their disposal  while  performing their duty on the borders.

Appreciating the personnel and their families  for their  devotion to the Nation, the Governor  congratulated all  the recipients of the Medals  and wished them best of luck.
