BJP MP Accuses AAP Govt of Misleading Public with ‘24-Hour Water Supply’ Claim
Bidhuri Calls It a ‘Publicity Stunt,’ Says No Upgrade to Water Supply System…
New Delhi : Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, the BJP Member of Parliament (MP) from South Delhi, has accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of misleading the public with its recent claim of providing 24-hour water supply to residents of Rajendra Nagar.
Bidhuri’s criticism came after a pump house in the DDA Flats, Rajendra Nagar, was inaugurated by AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, who claimed that the facility would provide round-the-clock water. However, Bidhuri pointed out that the pump house, which has been operational since 2011, continues to function only during limited hours, typically in the morning and evening.
Describing the announcement as a “publicity stunt,” Bidhuri alleged that the AAP government had simply replaced an old inaugural plaque with a new one to present the facility as a recent achievement. He said, “The pump house has been running since 2011. The AAP government merely put up a new stone where the old one stood and is now claiming to provide 24-hour water supply. This is nothing but deception.”
Bidhuri shared photographs comparing the old and new plaques, which revealed that the earlier plaque, unveiled by officials of the Congress-led government in 2011, included names of Congress leaders and Delhi Jal Board (DJB) officials. The new plaque, on the other hand, featured only the names of Atishi and the local MLA, with no DJB officials listed.
The BJP MP further criticized the AAP for falsely claiming that the pump house had been upgraded, stating that the capacity remained unchanged and that the water supply still operated during the same restricted hours. He called it a “blatant attempt” to mislead the people of Delhi, particularly after other announcements made by the AAP, such as the promise of 24-hour water supply and the Rs 2,100 scheme for women.
Bidhuri’s comments reflect ongoing tensions between the BJP and the AAP government over their respective policies and claims related to public services in Delhi.
