Bangladesh Hindus getting ready for Durga puja celebrations

32,168 mandaps set up across the country, after 2 yearrs

Dhaka (Mir Afroz Zaman-UNI): Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of Sanatan Dharma followers (Hindu community), will begin on September 25 through Mahalaya.
After a gap of two years due to Corona, Durga puja will be celebrated in 32 thousand 168 mandaps across the country in a massive arrangement.
In view of last year’s incident, precautions are being taken to ensure safety. The main puja will start on October 1, which will end on October 5 with the immersion of idols.
Sanatan religious leaders gave this information in an exchange meeting with journalists at Dhakeshwari National Temple auditorium in the capital city of Dhaka on Saturday afternoon regarding this year’s Durgotsav.
JL Bhowmik, president of the council, said, “In the context of last year’s incident, this year the government wants no incident to happen under any circumstances. Law enforcement agencies are more active this year than last year. We feel it is very difficult to protect our 32 thousand 168 temples. So we are appointing volunteers in every temple this year, who will keep vigil even at night.’
He said, ‘We are completely safe, it cannot be said. Incidents can happen, but we are very aware of this time. Maximum CCTV system has been kept. Various messages have been conveyed to the villages. Especially those temples which are temporary temples are more vulnerable. The pavilions which are set up in fields, grounds or various roads rather than in permanent places are riskier. There we have to keep more and more guard and sit all night.’ (UNI)
