Lucknow, April 7: The Uttar Pradesh government and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Thursday signed a pact to set up the Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport at Ayodhya. The Civil Aviation Department of the Uttar Pradesh government signed a lease agreement with the AAI regarding the transfer of 317.855 acres to the latter in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Speaking on the occasion, Adityanath said: “Every man’s religious sentiments are linked with the holy city of Ayodhya. Today marks the auspicious beginning of construction of an international airport to be dedicated to Lord Shri Ram in Ayodhya.” He said presently nine airports were operational in the state. “Now flights for 75 destinations across the country are available from the state.” Yogi said the process of constructing 10 new airports was going on in the state on a war footing. He directed the officials of the departments concerned to work to make Ayodhya water secure and the cleanest city in the country in the next five years.
