Ashok Gehlot appeals defamation summons.
In the ongoing defamation lawsuit, Ashok Gehlot has filed a motion in court against the summons. The allegations in this case concern the Sanjivani Credit Cooperative Society, which is accused of defrauding thousands of investors out of a total of approximately 900 crore rupees.
NEW DELHI: Gajendra Singh Sekhawat, a Union minister, filed a criminal complaint demanding the Congressman’s prosecution for alleged defamation. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was summoned in that case, and he sought a Delhi court against it on Monday.
Gehlot filed an appeal before an Additional Sessions Judge in response to a summons issued by a magistrate court on August 7 in response to Shekhawat’s complaint over his comments regarding the alleged Sanjivani fraud.
Tuesday’s sessions court hearing on the case is anticipated. The Sanjivani Credit Cooperative Society is accused of defrauding hundreds of investors of roughly Rs 900 crore in this case.
In his complaint to the metropolitan magistrate, Shekhawat, the Union ‘Jal Shakti’ Minister and MP from Jodhpur, said that Gehlot had been disparaging him over the alleged scam and seeking to harm his reputation and political career.
According to Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Harjeet Singh Jaspal, the defendant ‘prima facie’ made defamatory accusations against the complainant with the intent to injure his reputation.
The judge also took note of senior counsel Vikas Pahwa’s argument on behalf of Shekhawat that all of the complainant’s witnesses had testified in favour of the claims in the complaint.
