Arunachal Guv ‘volunteers’ to adopt two TB patients
Itanagar: Leading by example, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) BD Mishra, who attended the virtual launch of ‘Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ by President Droupadi Murmu on Friday ‘volunteered’ to adopt two TB patients under the campaign from his personal funds, said a communiqué from the Raj Bhavan here.
The Governor also appealed to the people of Arunachal Pradesh to generously adopt TB patients and make the ‘Abhiyaan’, a ‘Jan Andolan’ to make the State tuberculosis free.
Launching the ‘Abhiyaan’, the President highlighted the need for a societal approach to bring together people from all backgrounds to achieve the ambitious target of eliminating TB from the country by 2025. Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan is a step toward garnering community support for the TB patient-centric health system.
The Governor said that it is the responsibility of every citizen to contribute toward the well-being of fellow citizens in health crises. He urged the NGOs, corporate houses and also individuals for financial contributions to support the dietary requirements of TB patients as prescribed under the Abhiyaan.
Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr Mansukh Mandaviya also addressed the virtual event, which was attended by all Governors and Lt Governors. (UNI)
