Arunachal Guv emphasizes on strengthening civil-military relations

New Delhi: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) BD Mishra on Tuesday emphasised the need of strengthening civil-military relations based on confidence building, mutual trust, mutual knowledge and a transparent interface.
“It is essential to have mutual respect
for each other’s domain in decision making and plans implementation for good civil-military
relations and these concepts and actions should be closely integrated,” Mishra said while addressing the 48th Advance Professional Program in Public Administration at the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) here.
Sharing his observation as a former infantry officer of Indian Army and as head of the State,
the Governor called for optimization of civil-military relations as an integral part of the
National Defence Policy.
The civil-military Relations must aim at making the Indian Armed Forces ‘Atma Nirbhar’ and making our country ‘Shreshtha Bharat’, a release quoted Mishra as saying.
The Governor said that India is a democratic nation and civil power is supreme.
He called upon the armed forces officers to be fearless and forthright and they must build up them
professional competence to the extent that the political leaders get convinced that whatever is being suggested by the military leaders is in the best interest of the country.
The Governor, who has laid a strong foundation of trust and cooperation between civil administration and military establishments in the frontier state, said that he is proud to say that in Arunachal Pradesh, the present civil – military relations are its best.
It has facilitated the bonhomie with the army among the civil population, he underscored. (UNI)
