Sulaymaniyah (Iraq): India wrapped up the Asia Cup 2022 Stage-2 campaign with whooping 14 medals – eight gold, four silver and two bronze – here on Wednesday. Indian archers added 10 to their tally on the final day of the competition after winning four medals on Tuesday. The final day began with Indian trio of Mrinal Chauhan, Parth Salunkhe and Juyel Sarkar beating Bangladesh 5-1 in the men’s recurve team event to clinch gold medal. The women’s recurve team of Avani, Bhajan Kaur and Laxmi Hembrom edged out Bangladesh 5-4 in the gold medal clash. In the recurve mixed team event, Parth Salunkhe and Bhajan Kaur bagged silver after losing to Uzbekistan 4-5 in a shoot-out. In the recurve individual events, Parth defeated Amirkhan Sadikov of Uzbekistan 6-4 in the bronze medal match while Mrinal Chauhan defeated Bangladesh’s Ruman Shana 6-2 to claim the recurve men’s individual gold. In the recurve women’s individual, Bhajan settled for silver as she lost 2-6 to Iranian archer Mahta Abdollahi in the summit clash. In men’s compound individual, Prathmesh Fuge outplayed compatriot Rishabh Yadav 146-144 and won gold medal while Sakshi Chaudhary beat Parneet Kaur 140-138 to claim the women’s individual gold. On Tuesday, women’s compound team of Sakshi Chaudhary, Parneet Kaur and Aditi Gopichand Swami saw off Kazakhstan 204-201 to clinch the title. A team of Rishabh Yadav, Prathamesh Fuge and Prathamesh Jawkar defeated Bangladesh 224-218 to pocket the men’s compound team gold. Prathamesh Fuge and Parneet Kaur paired up to win the compound mixed team title after beating Kazakhstan team 158-151 in the gold medal match. Jawkar Samadhan outshined Kazakhstan’s Sergey Khristich 147-145 to win compound men’s individual bronze. In the Asia Cup stage-1 in March, India finished with a total of eight medals – two gold and six silver. (UNI)
