Room Reserved for Heroin Operations; Owner and Associates on the Run…………
Batala :The Batala police have attached a prominent hotel near the Golden Temple in Amritsar for allegedly operating as a hub for heroin smuggling and facilitating drug deals.
Police revealed that Room No. 103 of Alpine Inn was reserved exclusively for such activities and deliberately omitted from the hotel register. The hotel reportedly acted as a warehouse for heroin smuggled from Pakistan and hosted meetings of narcotics dealers for drug transportation across India.
During a raid on Ajit Nagar Road, the police uncovered evidence linking the room to significant heroin smuggling operations. Batala SSP Suhail Qasim Mir confirmed, “Room No. 103 was a drug den pivotal to heroin smuggling from Pakistan.”
Hotel owner Balbir Singh and seven others have been named in an FIR and are currently absconding. The raid is part of a broader crackdown on drug trade in Punjab.
The police are intensifying efforts to apprehend the suspects and dismantle similar networks operating in the region.
